With so much to offer, Eleuthera is the perfect destination for those looking for a unique and unforgettable experience solo or with their tribe. Here are three amazing natural wonders you can experience on Eleuthera.
The Glass Window Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks on the island. It is one of the few places on earth where you can compare the raging blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on one side of the bridge and the calm turquoise bright waters of the Bight of Eleuthera on the next; separated by a strip of rock just 30 feet wide!
The Sapphire Hole is another unique attraction on the island and is a crowd favourite to dive in. This is a natural pool located in the centre of a large limestone cave. It is filled with clear ‘Sapphire’ coloured water and is surrounded by lush greenery. The water feels so refreshing and is alleged to have healing powers.
The Sapphire Hole is the perfect spot for a dive or three. There aren’t any fish in the water but you may see a few shrimp and tiny crabs.
Preachers Cave is another must-see attraction on the island. This natural cave is located on the north shore of Eleuthera and was discovered by William Sayle and, a group of Christians seeking religious freedom from Bermuda, now referred to as “The Eleutheran Adventures.” They were shipwrecked off the Eleuthera coast on a reef called the Devil’s Back Bone and took refuge here after coming ashore. They shaped an altar from a large boulder at the far end of the cave, which remarkably still stands, and conducted the island’s first religious service there, earning the cave its name.
The easiest way to get to Eleuthera is by air. There are several airports on the island, including North Eleuthera Airport, Governor’s Harbour Airport, and Rock Sound Airport.
Once you’ve arrived on the island, you can explore the attractions by car (rent one here) or even boat. There are several car rental companies on the island, so you can easily rent a car to explore the island.
